The SPOKES program is an innovative bicycle bursary program at the University of Victoria that combines recycling with cycling. Run
by volunteers, and supported by UVic organizations, SPOKES has given
out more than 300 to university students, faculty and staff.

Bicycle Bursaries:

Bicycles
are given out twelve times each year through a monthly application
process. Each bursary comes with a refurbished bike, a lock, and offer
for free commuter cycling skills courses. SPOKES offers an array of
cruisers, mountain bikes and road bike and also sells a number of
related items such as helmets, lights and bells.

Successful
recipients can keep a SPOKES bike for up to one year and then they
return them to be recycled to another person. All recipients are
expected to put time and money into their bike -- just like a vehicle,
bicycles require maintenance and TLC.

If you
would like to apply for the next fleet - please fill out our
APPLICATION FORM and submit it to the SPOKES mailbox located in the
UVSS Resource Centre of the SUB or at our storage cage in the parkade
below the University Centre Building on campus.
