THIS PAGE IS A WORK IN PROGRESS

Here is a tutorial on (one way) to create a new icon for your Green Map.

Please note that this tutorial is based largely on the FontForge tutorial found at http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/overview.html

You can also download the FontForge manual in PDF format by right-clicking on http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/fontforge-tutorial.pdf

Step 1. Get FontForge softwareFontForge is an outline font editor that lets you create your own postscript, truetype, opentype, cid-keyed, multi-master, cff, svg and bitmap (bdf, FON, NFNT) fonts, or edit existing ones. Also lets you convert one format to another.FontForge is open source software that has been compiled for Linux and Mac systems. I think it also runs under Cygwin on Windows. You can get more information about obtaining FontForge by visiting http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/

Step 2. Get the green map font file victoriagreenmap.ttf from the UVic Community Mapping Centre.

Step 3. Start FontForge and find the font file in your directory.

Step 4. Change the font metadata to suit your new icons. Use Element > Font Info
You can change all this to credit yourself. Remember to rename the file.Step 5.
